OPEN is a critical success, "Magic is real."
Party Claw Production celebrated a successful run of Crystal Skillman's OPEN, a magic show without magic.
Critics described the show as "absolutely stunning", with one reviewer raving "The production’s subtlety is a testament to the power of simplicity to have a profound impact on viewers, virtual though they may be... Magic is real." Another reviewer remarked the show was "as enchanting as it is gut-punching and honest", and cited Miss Vega's performance as "captivating... engaging throughout, as her charisma and range of emotions lure you into her spell for the show’s 70-minute running time."
Party Claw Productions announces Open, a solo show starring Ashley Kristeen Vega
Party Claw is excited to join the ranks of New York theatre producers with their inaugural production, OPEN by Crystal Skillman. Under the direction of NTI Alum Sophie Sam and starring Ashley Kristeen Vega, OPEN is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
OPEN is a magic act that reveals itself to be a resurrection. A woman called the Magician presents a myriad of tricks for our entertainment, yet her performance seems to be attempting the impossible—to save the life of her partner, Jenny. But is our faith in her illusions enough to rewrite the past? The clock is ticking, the show must go on, and, as impossible as it may seem, this Magician’s act may be our last hope against a world filled with intolerance and hate.
The play will be streaming LIVE at 8 pm on October 2nd & 3rd, with a 2 pm matinee performance on October 4th.
